ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of the Ceredigion branch of CAMRA will take place at the Nag’s Head, Bridge Street, Aberystwyth (rear games room) on Monday June 22nd starting at 6pm. SUMMER TRIP

Following last year’s highly enjoyable trip to pubs in south Ceredigion, there will be another minibus trip, this time covering some of the pubs in the hills that we don’t so often get to. The date will be Saturday July 25th, leaving Aberystwyth in the morning and returning by mid-evening. For details or to book a place, come to the AGM or ring me on 01974-241255.

BEER FESTIVALS AND OTHER EVENTS

The Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival

The Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival returns to Cardiff International Arena on Mary Ann Street in the centre of Cardiff this June. The festival is open 11am to 11pm from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th June, offering an unrivalled showcase for the best beer cider and perry from Wales and elsewhere. With something like 40 craft brewers now in Wales, plus a couple of dozen cidermakers, this is an ideal opportunity to sample the best that Wales has to offer alongside great drinks from beyond our borders. Yours truly will be serving behind the cider and perry bar, so do come and say hello. The keenly contested Champion Beer of Wales competition will be judged on the Friday afternoon.

Beer on the Wye V

Just across the English border, July sees Beer on the Wye V, otherwise known as the 5th Hereford Beer and Cider Festival, held in the pleasant riverside setting of the Hereford Rowing Club on Greyfriars Avenue. With live music at all sessions, and displays featuring the launch of a new book on Herefordshire’s wealth of heritage pubs, the festival opens from 2pm to 11pm on Friday 3rd July, midday to 11pm on Saturday 4th July, and midday to 5pm on Sunday 5th July.

Great British Beer Festival

Later in the year, don’t forget the Great British Beer Festival at Earl’s Court, London, from 4th to 8th August.
