Good journey to the festival with thanks to Ann for driving and Sara for the tasting exercise on the way. Thanks is also noted to Kathy and Chris for the fund raising quiz (&12) on the bus – good fun and Paul won it with his outstanding cookery knowledge.
There is a planned railway strike before the surveying trip (to Mach / Dwynant etc next week) so please check if it on the day if it will be a bus or a train. LG will let us know as soon as she knows.
- Treasurer’s report: This was passed round. Good news is we are still in the black. £64 raised standing at £320:91. We are still keeping funds back for tasting kit and for expenses related to the Ale Trail next year.
- Correspondence: None
- Regional Structure update: The issue is still on the radar. There was an interbranch meeting a fortnight ago but still no decision. Lots of discussion ongoing and will continue to monitor.
- Aberystwyth Real Ale Festival and Local Pubs Week: Sub committee reported meeting had taken place. 2nd mailing of pubs had taken place and 12 pubs had responded. KG to produce some “marketing” suggestions for next meeting. Some campaigning has taken place. RJ to contact the pubs taking part for their beer selection.
Suggestion is that we should have a favourite beer of the festival, or “People’s Pint” and membership forms in all the pubs taking part.
It was decided we should make a courtesy call to the police to let them know about the event.
We discussed the possibility of a social starting at Llanbadarn but no decision was taken.
- Fund Raising / Publicity / Social (include walking/bus/train surveying trips): Next week we are planning to visit Dwynant http://www.tafarndwynant.co.uk/index.htm meet in the White Mach.
